Le May Doan
Catriona Le May Doan O.C., OLY is one of Canada’s most celebrated Olympians, a trailblazing speed skater whose determination and precision reshaped the sport. A three-time Olympic medallist, she captured gold in the 500m at both Nagano 1998 and Salt Lake City 2002, becoming the first Canadian to successfully defend an Olympic title. Her bronze in the 1,000m at Nagano further cemented her as one of the most dominant sprinters in long track history. Beyond the medals, Catriona became a symbol of excellence and resilience, inspiring generations of athletes across the country.
Following her athletic career, Catriona transitioned into broadcasting, spending more than a decade covering sport at the highest level. She reported on five Olympic Games and was awarded a Gemini Award for Best Sports Analyst for her work at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Her leadership journey continued off-camera as President and CEO of Sport Calgary, a role she held for seven years. In this capacity, she championed community sport access, strengthened partnerships across sectors, and advanced the importance of active living for all Calgarians.
With more than twenty-five years of public speaking experience, Catriona has shared her story of overcoming obstacles and pursuing excellence with audiences across Canada and around the world. Her commitment to sport and community extends beyond the spotlight through extensive volunteer leadership, including roles with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games Bid Committee, WinSport, and Special Olympics Canada. She currently serves as Chair of the Canada Games Council, continuing to shape the future of sport in Canada.
Today, Catriona continues her pursuit of excellence off the ice as a professional coach, leadership consultant, and sought-after public speaker. She works with individuals, teams, and organizations to develop clarity, confidence, and purpose—drawing on her unique blend of high-performance experience, empathetic communication, and practical leadership insight. Whether mentoring or guiding youth, professionals, or community leaders, or speaking to audiences across Canada, Catriona brings the same energy and authenticity that defined her Olympic journey. This is the next chapter of her pursuit of victory: helping others discover their own.
